Interested in a Career Within Our CoE Model?

Regardless of the specific title, all individuals interested in working in our Center of Excellence model must have one thing in a common: a commitment to the TPH vision, which is to positively impact the lives of student-athletes through the game of hockey.  A passion for mentoring each and every student-athlete at the CoE is a non-negotiable quality all of our team members must share. The following are a list of positions with the CoE model.  If you wish to be considered for a future position within one of our Center of Excellence locations, please fill out The TPH Way application to upload your resume and materials.

Director of Hockey

The Director of Hockey is the “face” of the Center of Excellence and is responsible for overseeing the on and off-ice hockey and athletic development of all student-athletes.  In conjunction with the Director of Player Development, this individual will apply TPH’s curriculum for The Hockey Athlete in a manner that best supports the growth and improvement of all individuals at his specific Center of Excellence.  In addition, the Director of Hockey is responsible for overseeing the CoE’s off-ice training program and will communicate with the Strength and Conditioning Coach to insure that all off-ice training sessions complement the daily on-ice plan.  In addition, the Director of Hockey will oversee all recruiting efforts for the Center of Excellence.  This includes attending games, evaluating player performance, communicating with prospective student-athletes and their families, cultivating relationships with local hockey leaders, delivering presentations on the CoE model and utilizing TPH’s Pipedrive recruiting software.  The Director of Hockey must also manage his hockey staff and ensure compliance on all recruiting and player development matters, while maintaining a direct line of communication with the Director of Operations on all logistics related to the hockey department.

Player Development Coach & Mentor

The Player Development Coach & Mentor is the middle layer between the Director of Hockey and the student-athlete.  The PDC/M works with all student-athletes on and off the ice and assists in the development of The Hockey Athlete.  This individual must possess knowledge in the areas of skating, shooting and stick skills, which are the three components of TPH’s “Overall Skills” pillar.  This person must possess a passion for being “knee deep in the hockey trenches,” whether it be on the ice with the student-athletes at the CoE, or, serving as a recruiting presence within local venues to drive interest in the Center of Excellence.  This occurs via in-game evaluations, communication with prospective student-athletes and their families and relationship cultivation with local hockey leaders.

Director of Operations

The Director of Operations, often referred to as “the MVP of the CoE model,” provides oversight of all administrative and logistical functions within the Center of Excellence.  This person must possess an incredibility high work ethic, superb time management skills, a firm communication style, a flexible lifestyle and an ability to manage expectations from within the TPH Hub.  The Director of Operations is entrenched in critical functions including scheduling, budgeting, finance, marketing and most importantly, academic processes and procedures, in partnership with the Director of Education.  This individual is the human link that ties the three components of the CoE, Study-Train-Play, together, to create a CoE that is successful from both a student-athlete development and business perspective.

Director of Education

The Director of Education is tasked with implementing the established TPH policies and procedures for a safe and orderly learning environment within the CoE.  This individual is responsible for implementing an academic program that insures student success and must work with each individual and his/her family to develop Student-Athlete Development Plans.  The Director of Education communicates with families on an ongoing basis on all matters specific but not limited to academic performance and scheduling.  The Director of Education also collects and reports data to the Chief Academic Officer on academic progress, serves as the TPH liaison with the various student learning platforms and partner schools in order to provide quality control of the educational plan and experience, directs the daily duties and functions of any academic support staff in accordance with TPH policies and procedures, maintains records in a confidential and organized manner so that current information is readily available to authorized personnel upon request, assists students in post-secondary planning and preparation, coordinates community service programs and projects, provides parent orientation and information sessions related to the academic program, and lastly, assists the Chief Academic Officer in seeking out student and parent feedback on the academic program.
