Chris Luongo - Assistant Coach UAH Chargers NCAA Div I

After spending the last two seasons at Wayne State, Chris Luongo joined the Alabama-Huntsville staff in the summer of 2008.

An All-CCHA defenseman at Michigan State where he played alongside Charger Head Coach Danton Cole for four seasons, Luongo will lend his knowledge to the Charger blueliners.

Drafted by the Detroit Red Wings in the fifth round in 1985, Luongo went on to a solid professional career following his collegiate days with the Spartans. After a three-year stint in the minor leagues, Luongo made his NHL debut for the Red Wings during the 1990-91 season before spending time in the Ottawa Sentors and New York Islanders organizations over the course of the next five seasons.

A member of three U.S. teams (96, 97, 00) in the World Championships, Luongo spent seven seasons playing in Germany wrapping up his playing career.

A Fraser, Mich., native, Luongo along with his wife Cheryl and two sons, Anthony and Christopher live in Madison.
