Defense Positional Program - Huntsville

This year's new four day program will run from Thursday to Sunday and will ensure action-packed days! Former professional defenseman and current UAH Head Coach Chris Luongo will head up this program. Coach “Lou” has designed a curriculum of drills from his playing days in the NHL and in Europe to help improve the skills and decision making of young defensemen looking to step up their performance. Sessions will include skills and positional play with the main emphasis on how to improve overall performance as a defenseman. This specialty camp will improve your play as a blueliner and will provide you with tips, insight and experience from an NHL and European professional hockey perspective.

Forward Positional Program - Huntsville

This year's new four day program will run from Thursday to Sunday and will ensure action-packed days! Heading up this year's program will be UAH Assistant coach Gavin Morgan, Jared Ross, and Karlis Zirnis. Filled with Division I college hockey and all levels of professional experience, including the NHL, this staff will greatly benefit your forward. These instructors have built a new station-based curriculum designed to maximize each player’s experience. Incorporating skills and drills from the collegiate and professional levels, this program is sure to provide your player with a new perspective on the game. Sessions will include skills and positional play with the main emphasis on how to play wing and center. Staff will provide players with tips and “tricks of the trade”, preparing all players for their upcoming season upfront.

Goaltending Positional Program - Huntsville

It is the goal of TPH to ensure that each goaltender who attends a TPH Goalie camp has an enjoyable experience and receives quality tutoring in all aspects of net minding. Students are instructed on skating techniques, butterfly, save selections, positioning, puck handling and much more during this intense camp. The off-ice curriculum will include video and goaltending specific training. Stretching, mental preparation and how to properly prepare for games will be on the forefront of this summer’s program. This camp will take your goaltender to the next level.

Schedule and other Details – Positional Camps

  • Days - Thursday to Sunday
    • Residents - Thur mid-afternoon to evening, Fri-Sat all day, Sun till early afternoon
    • Day - Thur mid-afternoon to evening, Fri-Sun about 7:30am to about 4:30pm
  • Group Divisions
    • There are usually 2 Forward, 2 Defense and 1 Goalie group in the positional camps
    • Groups are split up by age (birth year) so that players participating in on and off ice programs with players around their age (all goalies are in one group and are on the ice together)
    • Each player stays with their group throughout the day
  • Ice Time
    • At least 3 hours per day
  • Off Ice Time
    • Physical Training – at least 1 hour per day
    • Classroom – at least 30 minutes per day
    • Video Analysis – at least 1 hour per day
    • Team Building – at least 30 minutes per day
