Goaltending - Program Outline

Steve Briere, owner and head instructor of Briere’s Goalie School has played goal for 25 years at the Juniors (USHL, BCHL) College ( NCAA Div I) and Pro ( AHL,ECHL, and Europe) levels. Steve has also coached goalies from novice to college and tenders in the pro ranks. It is the goal of TPH to ensure that each goaltender who attends a TPH Goalie camp has an enjoyable experience and receives quality tutoring in all aspects of net minding. Students are instructed on skating techniques, butterfly, save selections, positioning, puck handling and much more during this intense camp. The off-ice curriculum will include video and goaltending specific training. Stretching, mental preparation and how to properly prepare for games will be on the forefront of this summers program. This camp will take your goaltender to the next level.
The Program
It is the goal of TPH to ensure that each goaltender who attends a TPH Goalie camp has an enjoyable experience and receives quality tutoring in all aspects of net minding. Students are instructed on skating techniques, butterfly, save selections, positioning, puck handling and much more during this 5 days Camp. The drills are designed based on the individual assessment performed at the beginning of the Camp.
On Ice: There will be 3 hours per day of on-ice training. Wherever possible, there will be a 3:1 ratio of shooters to goalies to make sure that each goalie has a wide variety of shots to deal with. Instructor/student ratios are kept to a minimum
Off Ice: There will be 5 hours of dry land instruction. The goalies will be taught various stretches, plyometrics and a number of other goalie specific drills. There will be opportunity to ask questions and learn how to utilize off ice training to improve skills and ability on the ice.
Video Analysis: Each goalie will recieve an individual evaluation and report card to help with their development. Steve will conduct individual annalysis, providing positive feedback and comments aimed at improving your goaltenders skills.
Video: There will be 5 hours of video, where all students will watch goalie specific educational, instructional and motivational videos. This will be held immediately after the ice session each day.
There are programs for Beginners, Intermediate & Advanced goalies of all ages. TPH Goaltending School aims to offer quality instruction to students at all levels, whether they are just starting out, or already at a AAA level.
