TPH Adult Power Skating/Puck Skills (Beginner/Intermediate)

Location: Thompson Arena (On UWO Campus)
Directions: entre UWO campus from the Western Rd entrance across from Brescia College. Entre roundabout and take first Right in to parking lot (beside Alumni Hall). Follow parking lot all the way to the end, arena is located on the right side of the new UWO fitness centre.
Program Outline:
This program has been designed for the "beginner" hockey player. Each session will focus on Power Skating, Shooting, Passing and Puck Control. Players are encouraged to go at their own pace and gradually progress through the program.
Skills covered will be:
Skating: skating technique, stopping, backward skating, forward skating, turning, pivoting, X-overs...
Shooting: Technique for Wrist Shot, Backhand, Slap Shot, Shooting in Motion, Receiving a pass and shooting...
Passing: Technique, receiving and making passes stationary and in motion...
Puck Control: Stick Handling, Protecting the Puck, Turning with the Puck...
Positioning: Learn the role of the different positions on the ice...
During this program players will learn hockey fundamentals in order to help with playing and or coaching.
